A pioneering stage creation
THE FIRST FLAMENCO CREATION BASED ON WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE’S HAMLET
Directed and choreographed by Jesús Herrera, HAMLET brings flamenco and dance-theatre into dialogue with Shakespeare, live music and the powerful presence of a lyric choir.
Official trailer
The creation
A stage universe born from conflict
Tragedy, drama and existential solitude: to be or not to be, to act or not to act, to dance or not to dance… renunciation or revenge.
The combination of flamenco language, classical music inspired by Mussorgsky, lyric choir and contemporary dramaturgy creates a universe in which apparently opposing elements acquire a shared meaning.
Synopsis
Not a chronological Hamlet
Choreographic dance, flamenco and theatricality merge with musical expression. Moving away from a chronological interpretation of Shakespeare’s play, the artistic proposal reveals the feelings, emotions, states of mind and existential abysses through which the tormented life of Prince Hamlet unfolds.

Reviews
AN AMBITIOUS TURNING POINT
Iratxe de Arantzibia
“HAMLET marks a turning point in Jesús Herrera’s creative career.”
The production is conceived as a succession of emotional brushstrokes rather than following the established chronological order, moving through Herrera’s footwork, theatricality and the dramatic universe of Shakespeare’s prince.
